Fretboard — Guitar Chord Builder & Progression Player
Fretboard does not collect any personal data. No login, no tracking, no analytics. Your chord progressions and preferences stay on your device.
Fretboard does not require an account and does not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal information. There is no login, no registration, and no profile.
Fretboard does not include any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, crash reporting services, or tracking tools. We do not use Firebase, Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, or any similar service. We have no way to track how you use the app.
All data you create in Fretboard — saved chord progressions, tuning preferences, and app settings — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device, is not synced to any server, and is not accessible to us or any third party. When you uninstall the app, this data is deleted.
Fretboard connects to the following external services solely to look up song metadata and chord information when you search for a song:
YouTube (oEmbed API) — to extract song titles from YouTube links.
Spotify (oEmbed API) — to extract song titles from Spotify links.
Apple Music / iTunes API — to look up song metadata.
SoundCloud (oEmbed API) — to extract song titles from SoundCloud links.
Songsterr API — to search for song and chord matches.
These requests send only the search query or URL you provide. No personal data, device identifiers, or usage information is included in these requests. No data from these services is stored beyond the current session.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share any user data with third parties. There is no data to share — Fretboard does not collect it.
Fretboard does not use cookies, web beacons, device fingerprinting, or any other tracking technology.
Fretboard does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Because the app collects no personal data from any user, it is safe for users of all ages.
All app data is stored locally on your device and exists only for as long as the app is installed. We do not retain any data on external servers. Uninstalling Fretboard removes all associated data from your device.
